Cardiovascular health

Cardiovascular exercise is any exercise where your heart and your lungs are both working harder than when at rest.

This means that exercise will have an effect of increasing your heart rate and the rate of breathing.

  • It strengthens your heart and lungs and improves your overall health and fitness when done correctly and consistently.
  • A few examples of good cardiovascular exercise include brisk walking, biking, swimming, running, rowing, aerobic dance.

Don’t give up

For improved heart health, try and do this at least three times per week.

  • If you havn’t been doing much exercise recently, it may take some time before you can build up to thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise.
  • Don’t give up but be patient and eventually you will be able to keep this up comfortably for thirty minutes.
